Heart Shield Necklace

Heart Shield Necklace

Inspired by the quote from 1 Corinthians 13-7 “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” I created this bold heart necklace as a shield, not to hide one’s heart but as a way to inspire and imagine our hearts shining through. Please check out the SHOP for this lovely piece.

“Pretty Rootsy” is the only way I can describe the recent designs I’ve created for Aye’ Shanti. Here are a few pieces that are featured in the SHOP today. The Carambola “Star Fruit earrings (inspired by the Carambola or how we call it in Grenada, Five Finger fruit) to the Makeba design,  inspired by South African singer, Miriam Makeba. I took pieces of my culture, photos I’ve collected in my journal for inspiration and things I love to create the “Pretty Rootsy” collection.  I’ve also created a pair of leather Initial earrings that brings a twist to the classic initial stud earring but with a pop of color. Oh and speaking of color, I just love Cobalt Blue, which is featured in majority of the pieces, however I can definitely make these designs with custom colors requested at purchase. You can find these currently in the SHOP.

Love "Rootsy" Earrings

Love “Rootsy” Earrings

I remember writing and doodling the word “Love” as far back as the 3rd grade.  To this day, I write it over and over again as a form of meditation. Love is like hanging with your sister on your grandmother’s porch back home in the Caribbean, talking about your dreams of the future. Love is being in the delivery room while your best friend is about to have her baby. Love is daily text messages from your best friend asking, “How are you beautiful?”  Love is having your mother call you out of the blue to give you a joke from back home lol. Love is looking down a sunny, sandy aisle, with your father is walking with you,  all the while your husband to be is reaching is hands out waiting for you to meet him side by side to commit your life together in front family and friends.  I’ve been so inspired by the idea of love throughout my life experiences that it was exciting to design these earrings.

Hibiscus Hair Accessory

I am so excited to be back. As you can see we have a NEW site, shop, blog and I absolutely love it. Thanks to Nicholas from www.Nickpc.com for all his magic on this site. In the coming days, I will be adding all the latest designs, product story and tons of inspiration. In the mean time I will leave you with this clue : LOVE and lots of it! Following photos courtesy of www.Spiceklyn.com.

Recently, I had the pleasure of creating two flower accessories for one of the contestants of the 2013 Miss Grenada USA Pageant, Sade Peter and she looked stunning.  The first accessory was a jeweled Hibiscus Flower for the swimsuit segment and the second design was a  jeweled Bougainvillea Flower (which is Grenada’s National Flower).

There are some moments in our lives we will never forget and it had to be our wedding day. On June 21, 2013, Mr. D and I took the blessed leap into wedding bliss on the island of Grenada, our home. Since the age of 9, I always said that I wanted to get married on the beach, so when my mother found this venue, The Aquarium Restaurant in Grenada, it was destined that we would exchange our vows here on the sand. One of best parts of planning our wedding were the DIY projects and customized accesories that truly made our wedding special.  Please enjoy a few of our photos from that day thanks to our amazing photographer, Kelon Pascal Photopgraphy.

Myself with my maid of honor, Marie. I’m placing a yellow orchid hair accessory by Aye’ Shanti Designs in her hair.
One of the DIY projects, our glittered initials and a handwritten guestbook signage all could be found at the Paper Source.
DIY programs and menu cards using Paper Source products and stamp.  The paper bag color reminds me so much of sand.
A sneak peek of the golden wedding dress that I loved so so much… More pics to come. Designed by Marcelle St. Bernard Designs.
The bouquets and boutonnieres were filled with tropical loveliness from spider orchids, ferns and anthurium lilies. I sneaked in a gold camera charm as a pre-wedding surprise for my hubby to be. Florists information tba.
My matron of honor, Nadia posing so lovely by the water.
Pre-wedding giggles with my girls overlooking the beach.
I saw these Fringe Flag DIY creations on AnnMarieLovesPaper and I had to recreate them for our guests to wave as we walked down the aisle. It’s a beach wedding so I didn’t want rice or bubbles but something that would blow lovely in the wind. Galvanize bucket from Paper Source.
The Aquarium Restaurant was a spectacular venue right on the beach. Paired with Aye’ Shanti designed programs, menus and decorations and their lovely table settings including my favorite batik, it was paradise.
Our gift bags were hand-stamped with our initials and filled with customized items for our guests courtesy of www.AyeShanti.com and www.Spiceklyn.com.
